Our Four Donkeys

Our Poem

Soft gentle face, long sensitive ears
A life full of joy or hardship and tears,
What pleasure for children with days on the beach
Where dreams for a pony are quite out of reach.
In a story book famous, in the nursery adored,
But in the blazing sun his heartbreak is stored
As he patiently waits for a gentle hand
Or a kindly word as he toils the land.
At the end of that rainbow dreams come true
May each donkey have friendship under a sky of blue
And find sanctuary where he can wander all day
With water cool and a rack of hay
For he bore gentle Jesus with the same infinite care
As he gives to us now in the moments we share.
