Village Life

Our Poem

Not here the burly burly of city life
But village peace free from strife,
Not here busy streets oh so plain
But evening strolls down winding lane,
Not here traffic jams for miles and miles
But meadow paths with gates and stiles.

Here the air stays fresh and clean
No fumes or smog in fields of green,
Here snowdrops, violets, bluebells grow
No bottles, paper that people throw,
Here the colours entrance us all
No rubbish tipped by scribbled wall.

Not here people rushing on pavements flat
But time to wave, time to chat,
Not here crowded shops or tubes so hot
But store and green where ponies trot,
Not here lonely days behind closed door
But village life with friends galore.
